Orlando Packing Tips! Young Family in Florida

Planning your big family adventure to Orlando? You need some Orlando packing tips!

With the excitement of Disney, Universal Studios, and all the epic theme parks, packing can feel a bit overwhelming – especially with little ones in tow. But don’t worry, I’ve got you covered! Here are my go-to packing tips for UK families heading to Florida, so you can spend less time stressing and more time meeting Mickey.

1. Plan Outfits and Use Packing Cubes

Florida weather is famously hot and humid – and you’ll likely be changing outfits more than once a day (hello, sweaty theme park afternoons!). Plan outfits for each day and use packing cubes or labelled bags to keep everyone’s clothes neat and easy to grab. A cube per child makes morning chaos much more manageable.

Top Tip: Don’t forget themed outfits for the parks – Disney tees, princess dresses, or superhero capes make for magical photos!

2. Split Outfits Across All Suitcases

If one bag goes missing, you’ll be so glad you did this. Divide everyone’s clothes across all your suitcases so no one is left without an outfit. It’s a simple insurance policy that can save your first few days of holiday!

3. Pack Essentials in Hand Luggage

Take at least one outfit (including swimwear) per child in your hand luggage – you might want to hit the hotel pool while waiting for your room. Bring any must-have items like special cuddly toys, sleep aids, or snacks for the flight.

Remember: You can buy things in Orlando, but they’re usually pricier – and nobody wants to go hunting for baby formula after an eight-hour flight.

4. Click & Collect at Boots Airside

Flying from the UK? Use the Boots airport Click & Collect service for baby milk, nappies, wipes, and food pouches. Order in advance and pick them up after security – it saves suitcase space and is especially handy for long-haul flights with little ones. If you’re packing light – this is one of our best Orlando Packing tips!

5. Pack Theme Park-Ready Food & Utensils

Bring reusable snack pots, spoons, and sippy cups – and pack dry breakfasts like porridge oats or cereal. You can buy milk easily once you arrive. Hotel rooms with a microwave or fridge are a massive bonus (many in Orlando offer this), but always have backup cereal for early mornings when kids wake before room service.

6. Use Zip Seal Bags for Organisation

Pop food pouches, utensils, sun cream, plasters, and other bits into zip seal bags and label everything. You’ll be rummaging through bags while juggling a buggy, so easy access is key. Pack a small “theme park survival kit” with wipes, plasters, snacks, hand sanitiser, and a cooling towel.

Bonus Orlando Packing Tips:

  • Bring a lightweight buggy with a sunshade and storage basket – you’ll need it for tired legs and all the stuff! We used the Kinderkraft Nubi 2
  • Cooling towels and refillable water bottles are lifesavers in the Florida heat (free water at all Disney counter service spots).
  • Pack ponchos! Florida has sudden rainstorms, and you don’t want to pay Disney prices for a plastic sheet.

Final Thought:
Orlando is magical, exhausting, and totally unforgettable – especially with young kids. Packing smart helps you focus on making memories (not searching for baby wipes in a gift shop). Have the best time, and don’t forget to pack your patience – and your Minnie ears!
